Mom and Sis

Two years ago, my mother (shown above on the left) was admitted to Cleveland Clinic for chemotherapy to treat her Acute Myelogenous Leukemia (AML). That has her first step in the process that took what seems like an eternity. She is one of the lucky ones that has beat the disease and continues to fight the disease every day of her life and returned to work 9 months post treatment and Bone Marrow Transplant (My Aunt Libby pictured on the right above was her match as a donor).

It was a surreal time in my life. Kade was two, Erika was pregnant with Liv (diagnosed with gestational diabetes at that time) and my Father spent a lot of time with us since the clinic is not too far from our house. We got a lot closer to my parents and there are memories that I think Kade will remember as he gets older. I will never forget the events that occurred during that time. The pain that my mother went through, the strength that she showed and the resilience that has allowed her to continue on her journey through life. She is an inspiration.

  1. Thank you KD for the touching tribute. Dad and I would not have made it without you and Erika and Kade. You make me proud to call you my son!
    Love, Mom
